Not recognizing some files with XLT formats after upgrading to Excel 2007
The following are examples of error messages that may occur:
- “Unable to get the Add property of Workbooks class”
occurs when running some reports after upgrading Excel to version 2007
- “Error Number
Description: [The file you are trying to open, ‘[filename].xlt’, is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file.” occurs when trying to open a some report templates in Design Mode after upgrading to Excel 2007
Microsoft Excel 2007 can see some XLT files created in earlier versions as invalid file format.
Download the tool FixTemplates.exe and place it in the folder that contains the report template XLT files. Run the tool and press the “Run Repair” button to allow it to check each XLT for the file format incompatibility and then to repair it. When prompted to repair each book press Yes. The utility is shown below.
- It is also imperative that you upgrade to a build of your core Alchemex components greater than or equal to version 18.104.22.168 as previous builds will continue to create XLT files that are not recognizable by Excel 2007.
